Rhythm Workshop FAQs

What are Rhythm Workshops?

Rhythm Workshops are interactive group experiences that combine drumming, movement and voice.

Sessions are designed to be inclusive, engaging and enjoyable, with a strong emphasis on participation, connection and shared experience rather than performance.

No musical or dance experience is required.

What is the Mitchell Drum?

The Mitchell Drum is a lightweight, portable percussion instrument designed and made in Ireland.

It produces a clear, dynamic sound and can be played while standing or sitting.
Its portability and accessibility make it ideal for group workshops, allowing participants to engage easily without feeling overwhelmed by large instruments.

Mitchell Drums are used throughout the workshops alongside simple percussion and body rhythm.

Do participants need any musical experience?

No.

The workshops are designed so that everyone can take part, regardless of musical background, age or ability.
Rhythms, movement and voice are introduced in a simple, accessible way.

Are singing and songs part of the workshops?

Yes.

Workshops often include simple songs and call-and-response singing, which support:

  • Confidence

  • Expression

  • Group connection

  • Listening and communication

Singing is always optional, and participants are encouraged to join in at a level that feels comfortable for them.

Are the workshops suitable for mixed abilities?

Yes.

Workshops are inclusive by design and are regularly delivered to groups with mixed abilities.

Participants are free to engage in the way that feels right for them — playing, moving, singing, listening, or observing.
Sessions are adapted in the moment to suit the group.

What happens during a typical workshop?

A session may include:

  • Group rhythm using drums and simple percussion
